Tranmere have announced the signing of midfielder Harvey Gilmour on loan until January from Sheffield United.
Gilmour played half an hour for Tranmere during Tuesday night’s friendly match against Liverpool and looked impressive. As we stated on Wednesday, Gilmour was made available for loan having signed a new contract at Bramall Lane at the end of last season.
Most suited to playing a centre role, Gilmour likes to get forward to support the front players and is someone highly-regarded back at Sheffield United.
Speaking about the player’s arrival, Micky Mellon said: “He’s a talented young player who will increase the competition for places in midfield and he put in a good performance on Tuesday night.
“He’s got a great attitude and wants to improve as a player and I’m sure he’ll do that here.”
He’s the second central midfielder to join this summer, following the arrival of Ollie Banks from Oldham Athletic on a free transfer.
Rovers have also recruited defenders Manny Monthe, Jake Caprice and Mark Ellis, as well as striker Paul Mullin – all on free transfers. Winger Jonny Smith joined on loan from Bristol City on Tuesday.
Gilmour will feature for Rovers in tomorrow’s game at home to Wigan.
