Influential midfielder Banks could be out until New Year

Tranmere could be without influential midfielder Ollie Banks for up to six weeks due to injury, RoversRearguard.com understands.

Banks last featured for Rovers in the draw against his former club Oldham last weekend, but he missed games against Oxford City and Grimsby Town either side of that fixture due to the same injury.

It now seems as though the injury is going to mean a longer spell on the side lines for Banks who has enjoyed a fine season so far. We understand Banks may be looking at a 4-6 week absence.

It gives boss Micky Mellon a concern going in to a hectic December schedule, a schedule that was made worse by the FA Cup Second Round draw with Southport. Rovers will now have to squeeze in a replay on Tuesday 11th December.

There are also fresh injury concerns over Dylan Mottley-Henry, Harvey Gilmour and possibly Paul Mullin, all of whom were subbed in that Southport tie.

Mellon will at least have Luke McCullough back for next week’s match against Cambridge.
