Goalkeeper Steve Wilson continued to win over his doubters in April as his performances excelled despite Rovers’ woeful form. Despite being dropped for the Bristol City game in favour of the on loan Matt Murray, Wilson did enough to win the Rovers Rearguard Player of the Month for April.
Wilson topped the ratings with an average of 7.3 for the month having played in four of Tranmere’s five games. He received ratings of 8 for his performances against Colchester United and Rotherham, the latter of which he superb saved a penalty in.
Coming in second was another player who has received his fair share of stick this season, defender Ian Goodison. The Jamaican picked up an average of 6.5 for the month and also played four of the five games. Chris Greenacre and Gareth Roberts were next up with ratings of 6.2 for the month.
The lowest single match rating of the month went to Jason McAteer who got a rating of 1 by most people for his performance against Bristol City in which he was sent off (later rescinded).
Stephen O’Leary, Danny Harrison and Sam Aiston all picked up the worst average for the month of just 5.0.
