Jake Kirby is closing in on 100 first team appearances for Tranmere, despite still being only 23-years-old. While opinion among fans is mostly split on Kirby, his tireless work ethic, commitment to the club and general positive attitude cannot be questioned. Additionally, the fact that so many Tranmere managers have included Kirby in their teams speaks volumes.
A product of the club’s youth system, Kirby made his first team debut back in 2012, and is one of few players remaining from the League One days. While many of his first team appearances have come as a winger, it appears that he actually favours playing upfront.
Kirby was enjoying a strong run in the team during the 2016/17 season when he unfortunately suffered a horrendous leg break in the home game against Barrow. The injury ruled him out until well in to the 2017/18 campaign.
