Tranmere have today announced that veteran central defender Peter Clarke has taken up the option to extend his deal by one year.
Clarke joined Rovers from Fleetwood in January and impressed in six outings for Micky Mellon’s team, playing his best football once fellow centre back Mark Ellis returned from injury to play alongside him.
The 38-year-old has amassed more than 500 senior appearances during his career and will add vital experience to the team next season as the club look to be facing up to a campaign in League Two following their demotion from the third tier.
Meanwhile, Ellis is one of a number of Tranmere first team players who are out of contact and now able to join other clubs if no new deals are agreed.
Thankfully, Micky Mellon has a decent spine of a team under contract for the new campaign. Players with one year or more remaining on their deals include:
Scott Davies
Liam Ridehalgh
Manny Monthe
Sid Nelson
George Ray
Kieron Morris
Corey Blackett-Taylor
Stefan Payne
Morgan Ferrier
