League Two line-up complete

By

Tranmere now know exactly who they will be facing in League Two next season after Coventry City beat Exeter City in today’s play-off final.

The result means the entire line-up of teams that will compete in the division next season is now confirmed, with Exeter staying put in League Two after losing 3-1 to the Sky Blues at Wembley.

Coming down from League One will be Bury, Oldham, Northampton and MK Dons as Rovers get two local fixtures back in the calendar. Rovers’ last game in the Football League was a defeat at home to Bury in 2015, a day on which the Shakers celebrated promotion to League One. Those memories can now be banished.

In addition to Bury and Oldham, Rovers will also add north west dates against Port Vale and Crewe to their fixture list. If nothing else, a few decent local away games and potentially large away followings already has it as a major graduation from the last three years.

Tranmere will have the opportunity to renew old National League rivalries with Forest Green and Lincoln City, while Macclesfield will also be on facing Tranmere in league action after they were crowed National League champions.

Other clubs of note that we will face next season include old play-off foes from days gone by including Notts County (1990) and Swindon Town (1993).

A couple of teams that we became well used to facing during the 2000s in League One will also be back at Prenton Park, such as Colchester United, Carlisle United and Yeovil Town.

The full list of teams in League Two for 2018/19 is as follows:

Bury
Cambridge United
Carlisle United
Cheltenham Town
