Dundee United has today confirmed Micky Mellon is their new manager having signed a two-year-deal.
The confirmation brings to an end a near-four-year spell as Tranmere boss in which he took Rovers to Wembley three times, winning twice to secure back-to-back promotions. His departure is a hammer blow to the SWA who are still reeling from the EFL’s decision to demote them back to League Two.
It goes without saying that we wish Micky all the very best of luck in this new chapter and you’d expect that he will be back in the English game at some point in future given his outstanding track record here.
There is no word on the future of assistant Michael Jackson as of yet, but you’d expect he will follow.
With the EFL season likely to start somewhere between late August and mid-September, Mark Palios has little time to spare as he looks to appoint a new manager. The club also has just 10 contracted first team players.
