Forest Green Rovers defender Manny Monthe has joined Tranmere today, while former Chester striker James Alabi has joined National League side Leyton Orient.
Monthe is no stranger to Tranmere fans having starred in the promotion final at Wembley in May. The giant defender joined on loan from Forest Green in February and came off the bench at right-back in the semi-final win over Ebbsfleet before putting in a towering performance as Rovers triumphed at Wembley.
He was made available for transfer by Forest Green and joins on a one-year contract for an undisclosed fee, the second signing of the week following the capture of Paul Mullin from Swindon Town. Both players trained with the squad yesterday.
Several other new faces were also involved in training with several trialists joining up with the squad.
On his way out is striker James Alabi. The striker signed for Tranmere last summer from Chester but failed to secure much first team football. He struggled for games when loaned out to Dover and saw a more to Ebbsfleet fall through in January in what was a bit of a calamity season for him.
Rovers were ordered to pay £22,500 for Alabi at a tribunal in February, a figure that seemed somewhat harsh.
Another striker most had forgotten about is George Waring. No word on his future yet this summer, though he’s still under contract with Rovers.
