The Football Association have charged Rochdale midfielder Jimmy Ryan with violent conduct following an incident in the aftermath of Tranmere’s second goal on Saturday.
Ryan pulled Ferrier’s dreadlocks during a flashpoint in the closing minutes of Saturday’s opening League One match, an action that went unpunished at the time.
Following Connor Jennings’ goal, Tranmere’s Rushian Hepburn-Murphy was ultimately shown a red card for violent conduct after shoving a Dale player to the floor. However, while the referee dragged the on-loan youngster away, he turned his back on the continuing flashpoint in the box during which Ryan committed the offence.
Unfortunately for him, and Rochdale, TV cameras did not miss the action and the incident was widely highlighted on social media.
Today, Rochdale confirmed that the player will now face action from the FA and that the club will not appeal the decision. The player will now face a ban.
