Tranmere boss Micky Mellon has been shortlisted for the Manager of the Year Award at the Northwest Football Awards.
Mellon led Tranmere back to the Football League last season following consecutive second place finishes in the National League. Promotion was secured in dramatic circumstances in May when Rovers beat Boreham Wood 2-1 despite playing with 10 men since the first minute.
However, Micky is going to have some fierce competition to win the award. There are four other names on the list, including Pep Guardiola who managed Manchester City to the Premier League title.
Also, on the list is former Tranmere midfielder Paul Cook who won promotion to the Championship with Wigan Athletic. Accrington’s John Coleman and former Macclesfield boss John Askey are the others on the shortlist.
A panel of judges will help to select the winner who will be announced at a gala awards ceremony in November.
Among the judges are former football manager Brian Horton and the PFA’s Terry Angus. You can buy tickets to attend the event which takes places on Friday 12th November at Old Trafford cricket ground, Manchester.
