Norwood nominated for League Two Player of the Month

Tranmere striker James Norwood’s outstanding form has been recognised by the EFL after he was nominated for the August Player of the Month award.

Nors has been in red-hot form this season as Rovers kicked-off their return to the Football League. The forward has already netted six goals, putting him at the top of the division’s scoring charts.

Of course, the popular forward has been on fire for much longer than just the last month.

He scored the crucial goal that secured Tranmere’s EFL return at Wembley in May, a strike which secured him hero status in Wirral for ever more.

Norwood also netted two in the play-off semi-final and is currently on a sensational run of goal scoring stretching back several months. He’s netted 20 league goals this calendar year, more than any other player in the top five tiers of English football.

There are three other players nominated for the August award in Sky Bet League Two, including his two closest goal scoring rivals who both have five goals each; Michael Doughty of Swindon and Ollie Palmer of Crawley.

Lincoln City’s Michael Bostwick is the other nominee.

It has to go to Norwood, even if we are biased.
