Tranmere set to sign ex-Forest Green star Traore

By

Tranmere are set to sign a second member of Forest Green Rovers’ play-off winning team inside a week as they bring in former Swindon Town and Notts County midfielder Drissa Traore on a free transfer.

The player himself has seemingly confirmed the move on social media tonight, posting on Twitter, as seen below.

Traore left Forest Green by mutual consent recently, and with injuries and suspensions looming over Tranmere’s midfield, he will be a welcome addition to the squad.

He’s no stranger to Tranmere fans having put in a Man of the Match performance in the play-off final at Wembley in May. He follows another member of that promotion-winning team, Manny Monthe, who joined Micky Mellon’s squad last week.

Traore is a combative midfielder who also possesses quality on the ball. The Ivorian has previously had spells with Notts County and Swindon prior to signing for Forest Green in June 2016.

Before moving to England, the player came through the youth ranks at French club Le Havre, making 85 appearances in their second team as well as playing a handful of games for their first team.

No word on contract length yet. We’d expect the deal will be announced on Thursday or Friday with more detail to emerge.
