The draw for the First Round of the Emirates FA Cup 2019-20 has paired Tranmere Rovers with a home tie against Wycombe Wanderers.
Wanderers, under Gareth Ainsworth, have made a terrific start to the season and currently sit second behind Ipswich Town in the League One standings.
So, not the easiest draw we could have got, but at least it’s not Peterborough United?!
The tie will be played on the weekend of the 9/10 November, and Wycombe travel to Prenton Park again the week after for a League One fixture, so we’ll be well acquainted by mid-November!
Rovers made the Third Round of the competition last season, with three televised matches finishing with a 7-0 defeat against Tottenham Hotspur.
Let’s see if we can do the same, if not better, this time around.
The draw saw a bye for one club due to the expulsion of Bury from the competition. That space went to, quite fittingly I think, the lowest-ranked side in the draw, Chichester City.
