“Who the f*** are Tranmere?” Classless Macclesfield celebrate the title

By

Macclesfield Town finally got over the finish line to secure a deserved National League title yesterday – and their players celebrated by singing songs about Tranmere.

Macclesfield have had an outstanding season, their 2-0 win at Eastleigh yesterday finally securing a return to the Football League with the National League title.

Tranmere fans, players, owners and the club itself were quick to pass on congratulations to the league winners following the final whistle of their early afternoon game, but the Macc players opted to inexplicably sing anti-Tranmere songs to celebrate the victory – and post them to social media.

In videos appearing on Twitter and now on YouTube, a host of first team players can be heard mocking Rovers by chanting “Super White Army” (a well-known TRFC chant) before more players join in with something along the lines of “Who the f*** are Tranmere?”. (video below)

It’s an odd way to celebrate the title considering there was no spike or rivalry between the two clubs, other than a brief fight for top spot. Even if you’re going to do it, which is probably commonplace in football, it shows a distinct lack of class and intelligence to then post it on social media.

Despite this, most Tranmere fans would still congratulate Macclesfield on their success this season. An incredible achievement given their much-publicised off-field issues.

Let’s hope Tranmere can join them in the EFL next season via the play-offs.
