Versatile defender Adam Buxton joined Tranmere on a free transfer in February 2017 having left League Two club Portsmouth. He had previously impressed during a spell at Accrington Stanley.
His arrival at Prenton Park certainly got off to an interesting start as he won a place at right back before a controversial sending off at home to Bromley led to an extended period out of the team. The determined scouser soon got up to speed and forced his way back in though, becoming a key player in the club’s 95-point season.
During that first season, Buxton played on the right of three centre-backs and won fans over with his tough tackling and robust defensive style. He has also been deployed at right-back and right full-back.
Despite interest from elsewhere, Buxton penned a new two-year contract at Prenton Park in the summer of 2017, securing him with the club until the end of the 2018/19 season.
