Experienced goalkeeper Scott Davies joined Rovers following their relegation from the Football League in 2015. Having left helped Fleetwood Town win promotion from the Conference previously, he seemed the perfect man to fill the number one position.
Davies has been a mainstay in the Tranmere team under both Gary Brabin and Micky Mellon, the latter had also worked with the stopper while at Fleetwood. Thanks to his energetic control of his area, quick reactions and strong distribution, he quickly became a favourite at Prenton Park.
He won the Players’ Player of the Year award during his first season at the club and would be a key figure during Tranmere’s strong 2016/17 campaign. Davies was in tears following defeat to Forest Green at Wembley in the play-off final in 2017, but remained committed to the club for the following campaign despite his determination to be known as a Football League goalkeeper.
Davies will be out of contract at the end of the 2017/18 season.
