Connor Jennings moved to Tranmere on a free transfer from rivals Wrexham in the summer of 2016, and despite a promising start, he struggled to hold down a first team spot in the early weeks of the season. To add to his frustration, an injury ruled him out for some time and once fit again he was loaned to National League rivals Macclesfield Town in February 2017 for one month.
Following a spate of injuries, Jennings returned to Tranmere in March of the same year and found himself thrust in to the first team picture. Now fully fit, Jennings flourished playing in an advanced midfield role or as part of a front three, playing a key role in the club’s march to a 95 point finish and the play-off final. Despite losing the final at Wembley 3-1, Rovers fans will remember the day for Jennings’ stunning 30 yard strike which made the game 1-1 during the first half.
