Liverpool-born defender McEveley was a late addition to the squad ahead of the 2017/18 season, filling the void left by the departure of Michael Ihiekwe to Rotherham.
McEveley was signed not only due to the wealth of experience he brought with him, thanks to spells with the likes of Derby County, Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United, but also his versatility. Capable of playing centre back or left-back, he was seen by Micky Mellon as an ideal player to fit on to the left of the three centre-back system he favours.
He marked his home debut for Tranmere with a goal, heading home from a Jack Dunn corner in the 3-1 victory over Woking in early August.
