In episode four of A Trip To The Moon podcast, former crowd favourite Chris Greenacre talks about his time at Tranmere, his move from Stoke City and what life is like at Wellington Phoenix.
Greenacre was a huge success at Prenton Park after joining on a free transfer from Stoke in 2005.
He joined a club that had just missed out on promotion to the Championship following play-off semi-final defeat to Hartlepool and he proved to be the natural goalscorer fans had been craving since the days of John Aldridge. However, for the team as a whole, things did not go quite as planned.
“Greeny”, who exclusively spoke to this website weeks after leaving Tranmere and also wrote a blog for us during his early months in Wellington, returns to Rovers Rearguard to give this exclusive interview for the podcast.
He touches on life at Stoke and how a relationship with a Tranmere legend he knew from his days at Man City prompted his move to Wirral.
Chris also gives a straight answer when asked about the rumour and speculation back in 2008 that he had been dropped due to being just one goal away from a bonus, and tells us what it was like to score against his boyhood club, Leeds United.
