Striker Cole Stockton’s exit from Prenton Park has today been confirmed as he has signed for Sky Bet League Two club Morecambe.
This follows the news earlier in the week that fellow striker James Norwood was departing to join Ipswich Town.
The 25-year-old centre forward was at the end of his contract at Tranmere having returned to the club at the start of the 2018-19 season.
Originally having come through the youth system at Rovers, Stockton left to join Hearts in 2017, a spell which was short lived before he returned to England with Carlisle United.
His second spell at Prenton Park saw him form a decent partnership with Norwood at the beginning of the season, acting as the foil while his strike partner grabbed the glory and majority of the goals.
He netted just twice in a white shirt in this period, struggling in front of goal, until National League side Wrexham loaned him away in January, and with his contract expiring, it is unsurprising that he has chosen to move to pastures new.
Stockton, however, is familiar with Morecambe and their management duo of Jim Bentley and Kenny McKenna having enjoyed a couple of loan spells at the Globe Arena previously.
We wish him well for the future.
