Young Tranmere Rovers goalkeeper Paddy Wharton has been released by the club after his one-year contract as a professional at Prenton Park expired.
The shot-stopper, who turned 19 yesterday, revealed via his Twitter feed that he’ll be leaving the club.
A talented youngster, Wharton came from the youth ranks at Prenton Park and helped the youth team to an FA Youth Cup third round tie against Everton a couple of years ago.
He signed his first professional contract while still a scholar and had his first full campaign as a pro this season.
The EFL Trophy fixture away against Shrewsbury Town back in October 2018 would be his solitary first team appearance, but he has enjoyed senior experience in non-league with the likes of Marine, Colwyn Bay and Stalybridge Celtic.
We wish Paddy good luck for the future and will certainly keep an eye on his progress.
