Final player stats for the season

By

Saturday’s defeat against Hartlepool United brought the regular season to a close. We’ve now compiled all of the stats for the season.

We’ve been keeping our stats pages up-to-date throughout the season, providing a resource for fans to access the latest Rovers stats that are a little harder to find now that we’re down in non-league.

So, with all 46 league games and four cup games completed, here are the final stats. We will update them to include the play-offs once the season is completely finished….hopefully in two weeks time.

Top goalscorers

Andy Cook and James Norwood were in scintillating form after Christmas and the pair formed one of the best strikeforces in the entire division. Cook finished as Tranmere’s top scorer, as well as winning the National League Golden Boot, with 27 goals. Nors has 21, followed by Connor Jennings with 9.

Top five goalscorers:

27 – Andy Cook
21 – James Norwood
9   – Connor Jennings
5   – Ritchie Sutton
4   – Ollie Norburn

Most assists

As Rovers have fired in the goals for fun in 2018, the assists have come from all over the place. James Norwood has been his usual creative self, while the input from the likes of Jeff Hughes, Liam Ridehalgh and Connor Jennings has also been key.

Here are the top five for assists:

10 – James Norwood
9  – Liam Ridehalgh
9  – Jeff Hughes
7  – Connor Jennings
6  – Cook, Norburn, Buxton

Appearances

Here are the players with the most appearances this season. Stats count any appearance at all, whether it’s from the starting line-up or subs’ bench.

47 – Connor Jennings
47 – Ritchie Sutton
46 – James Norwood
46 – Ollie Norburn
45 – Steve McNulty
44 – Andy Cook

Yellow cards

This is perhaps not one to be celebrated, but as we have the stats we may as well use them. Tranmere have had more than their fair share of cards this season, with Ollie Norburn narrowly pipping Jay Harris to top spot.

Here is the breakdown:

10 – Ollie Norburn
9   – Connor Jennings
9   – Jay Harris
8   – Steve McNulty
7   – Andy Cook

Clean sheets

We could not do a stats section without having a quick nod to Scott Davies. The Rovers stopper has once again been among the best in the National League when it comes to clean sheets, though he just missed out on winning that particular award for the third year running. His injury in the New Year was almost certainly a contributing factor.

Scott finishes with 16 clean sheets in the National League this season. That’s 55 clean sheets in league games since he arrived at the club in 2015.
