Injured winger now linked with Millwall and Swansea after Celtic interest

By

Another day, another transfer story linking Corey Blackett-Taylor with moves away from Prenton Park. Once again, it’s come from a seemingly unsubstantiated Daily Mail article (shock).

The young winger seems to have been linked with everyone this summer, including the likes of Celtic and Nottingham Forest. Today’s article on the Mail Online website suggests the player will leave Tranmere for a “five-figure” sum before the end of the deadline, Swansea and Millwall his latest suitors. Even Bristol Rovers get a mention.

Now, firstly, we don’t know anything about whether Corey is leaving Rovers. However, it is important to take the latest speculation with a pinch of salt. A large one.

The article states that the player has been absent from the matchday squad in recent weeks “amid transfer speculation”. Well, technically, that is correct. He has been missing and there has been speculation.

However, what they fail acknowledge is that Corey picked up an injury in Tranmere’s Carabao Cup game against Harrogate last month. We understand it may have been a hamstring injury and he could still be out for another two or three weeks yet.

If true, he is unlikely to be fully fit before the transfer window closes on October 16th, meaning any transfer would be unlikely unless a club takes a bit of a gamble on fitness.

So, while we’re not going to say Corey definitely won’t leave nor dismiss that there may in fact be interest from some of the clubs linked with him, Rovers fans probably shouldn’t panic just yet.
