If you could pick two players that you’d hate for Tranmere to be without or any game, it’s likely that James Norwood and Ollie Banks would feature in many people’s answer.
That could be the case today against Oldham as both players are struggling with injuries. Norwood picked up a knock in the win at Oxford City on Tuesday night, while Banks could miss out due to an injury sustained in the first half at Crewe last week.
Norwood has been in red-hot form this season and is currently the leading goal scorer across all of England’s top five divisions. That said, when he missed the game at Morecambe earlier this season, Rovers still scored four goals.
Banks would be another significant absentee, not just from a playing perspective, but from this fixture too. He’s been excellent for Rovers this year after joining from Oldham on a free transfer.
There’s a bit of needle between Banks and Oldham fans after the Latics recalled him from a loan at Prenton Park last season, a decision which angered the player’s dad.
Here’s hoping both players are fit to play.
