Tranmere’s Adam Buxton has pledged his future to the club following the Wembley heartache by signing a new two-year contract at Prenton Park.
Unfortunately, Rovers fans need to begin adjusting to the fact that we are again in the National League next season. Preparations have begun well with news that Buxton will be part of the squad.
The tough-tackling scouser has been outstanding since joining from Portsmouth earlier this season, settling quickly in to a system of three centre backs alongside Steve McNulty and Michael Ihiekwe.
Injury to Lee Vaughan meant that Buxton finished the season at right full-back, but you’d expect him to move back to the centre when Vaughan is fit or a replacement is signed.
Fellow defender Michael Ihiekwe looks to have played his final game for the club though, with speculation linking him with a host of Football League clubs.
Tranmere return to pre-season training in a couple of weeks time ahead of their first friendly match against Liverpool at Prenton Park.
