As the dust begins to settle on another remarkable promotion, Tranmere fans may have just been given a huge boost from popular defender Manny Monthe.
Monthe is out-of-contract this summer and won a host of admirers thanks to his outstandingly calm and dominant defending.
Rumours had suggested he was ready to head back down south this summer; however, the big man may have put all of that talk to rest today.
Speaking during a live social media broadcast on his official Instagram account today, Monthe answered several fans who had asked about his future by saying: “I’m staying. I’m staying at Tranmere”.
Now we just need to see a contract announcement on the club website to stop us worrying! After the season he has had, it would be no surprise to see a lot of clubs interested in signing him this summer.
Meanwhile, central defensive partner Sid Nelson is also believed to be open to joining Tranmere on a permanent basis. Nelson was outstanding for Rovers in the play-offs after coming in for the injured Mark Ellis, and having been released by Millwall, Nelson is thought to be keen on moving to Prenton Park on a free transfer.
He, too, would be a fine signing.
