Former Tranmere loanee Dylan Mottley-Henry has signed a new two-year extension to his contract at Barnsley, keeping him at Oakwell until June 2020.
Mottley-Henry arrived at Tranmere from Barnsley back in October, with very little known about the former Bradford City youth team player. However, his direct style of wing play would soon endear him to the Prenton Park faithful, and it was a huge disappointment when injury cut his loan short by a few days following the Boxing Day win over Fydle.
However, the exception form he displayed while at Tranmere has not gone unnoticed at his parent club where he has now been rewarded with an extended deal. It’s highly likely he will go out on loan again once he has fully recovered from injury, although like Ollie Banks, that may be in a higher division than Tranmere’s.
Congratulations to Dylan, and if we don’t get to see you back in a Tranmere shirt, all Rovers fans would surely wish you the best of luck for the future.
Ollie Banks joins League Two outfit Swindon Town
Tranmere’s hopes of re-signing Ollie Banks from Oldham Athletic are over after the energetic midfielder joined League Two side Swindon Town last week.
Banks was instrumental in Tranmere recording a run of five straight league wins during December, a run of form that kick-started the season and thrust Micky Mellon’s team back in to the promotion race.
However, his impressive form has unsurprisingly drawn the attention of clubs higher up the football ladder, and he has now joined Swindon initially for a month. It was no surprise to hear that he was named as man of the match on this Robins debut.
Amusingly, Oldham fans still don’t seem to rate the player and seem glad to have rid of him. Sitting just above the relegation zone in League One, they may need him for a League Two campaign next season.
