Tranmere fans will have to wait even longer to see new signing Jacob Maddox pull on a Rovers shirt with the young midfielder back at parent club Chelsea for treatment.
Maddox joined Tranmere on loan in August having enjoyed an excellent spell at Cheltenham Town last season. He was getting over a knee injury when he joined, but six weeks on, Maddox is yet to play a single minute for Rovers.
The 20-year-old did make the bench for the draw at Rotherham a few weeks ago, but that was more down to a lack of numbers and it seems that he wasn’t yet ready to take to the pitch for the club.
He’s also trained a fair bit with Rovers, including in the Open Training at Prenton Park at the end of August – so far fans’ only chance to see him in action.
Speaking about Maddox in his Thursday press conference, Tranmere boss Micky Mellon revealed that the player isn’t likely to make his debut just yet and is back with the Premier League club receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, Rovers remain on the lookout for reinforcements, we understand, with at least two experienced free agents currently interesting the Tranmere boss (midfielder and winger).
UPDATE: One of those has been announced as signing as Neil Danns joins Tranmere.
