Tranmere Rovers will be looking to halt a three-match losing streak when they host Stevenage at Prenton Park on Saturday afternoon.
Defeats against Northampton Town, Mansfield Town and Swindon Town have left Micky Mellon’s men a little cut adrift from the play-off positions, but three points against The Boro would revive Rovers’ play-off dreams.
Ollie Banks returns after missing the midweek loss against Northampton through suspension and will strengthen the midfield with his return to the squad.
Skipper Steve McNulty also missed the defeat to The Cobblers with an Achilles injury and will be a doubt for this fixture, while striker Ishmael Miller misses out with a hamstring injury.
It’s a game between the teams in 10th vs 9th in the EFL League Two standings so it should be a closely fought encounter.
Rovers’ form at home over the season has been good, averaging 1.87 points from matches at Prenton Park.
But it is three home league fixtures since the last time the Super White Army were able to celebrate maximum points on home turf, on Boxing Day from a 3-1 victory over Morecambe.
Coincidentally, Stevenage were successful in their last road trip, defeating Morecambe 2-1 at the Globe Arena.
It’s another important match for Rovers, and one that if they can perform as well as they can, they can get the much needed three points out of.
