Doncaster clear McCullough for Tottenham tie – Banks fit too?

By

Tranmere’s on-loan midfielder Luke McCullough has been given permission to play in tomorrow night’s big cup game against Tottenham.

Parent club Doncaster Rovers have given Micky Mellon the green light to field McCullough against the Premier League outfit. He has had to sit out the four FA Cup ties Tranmere have played so far this season, with the original ties against Oxford City and Southport, as well as the subsequent replays, all missed.

As of yet, there is still no confirmation as to whether McCullough’s loan has been extended until the end-of-the-season, despite Doncaster having stated this was the case several weeks ago.

The news of his availability is a real boost to Rovers. It could be further enhanced by the news that influential midfielder Ollie Banks is also available and may make the subs’ bench after missing the last six weeks through injury.

Banks was a key player for Tranmere during the impressive start to this season and is seen as a crucial player should Rovers want to maintain a play-off push. However, Mellon may be tempted to ease him back in gently to ensure he’s fit and ready for the upcoming league fixtures.

Further team news and previews to follow.

UPDATE: Rovers have now confirmed that McCullough’s loan has been extended until the end-of-the-season. More to follow.
