Ishmael Miller and Mark Ellis ruled out for season

Tranmere duo Ishmael Miller and Mark Ellis will play no further part in Tranmere’s promotion challenge, Micky Mellon has confirmed.

Ellis had been a key part of the team that has surged in to the promotion frame over the last few months. The centre back was exceptional alongside Manny Monthe at the back but picked up a serious knee injury in the game against Forest Green on Good Friday.

It was suspected he had dislocated his knee at the time, and Mellon has today confirmed that the injury has caused damage to the player’s cruciate knee ligaments. That suggests it may be a lengthy lay-off for the experienced defender.

Meanwhile, forward Ishmael Miller won’t play again this season either. The former WBA and Man City player injured his hamstring in only his second game for the club back in January. He hasn’t played since and, although his rehab is well underway, he won’t play again this season.

The player is out of contract in the summer as well, so it raises the possibility that he’s played his final game for the club.
