Newly-promoted Tranmere have begun preparing their squad for life back in the Football League with seven players released today.
Long-serving Jake Kirby leaves following an injury-hit last two years. Jake came through Tranmere’s academy system and made nearly 100 first team appearances. Hopefully the new start will help Jake kick-on and get his career on track once again.
Popular striker and promotion celebration ring-leader Andy Mangan has also left the club. Mangan saw his playing time limited this season but will not be short of suitors this summer. We understand Southport were interested last summer and may come in again under new boss Liam Watson. Also, there could be a coaching role in the offing with Fleetwood Town, managed by Joey Barton.
Defender Jay McEveley has left and joins Warrington Town. He had failed to impress after joining at the start of this season and soon fell out of favour.
Jack Dunn has also been released one year after joining in a free transfer from Liverpool following a loan spell last season. Dunn also failed to make any sort of impact and, despite clearly possessing talent, he’s going to have to work hard elsewhere if he’s to fulfil any of that potential.
Young winger Elliot Rokka, midfielder Drissa Traore and youngster Mitch Duggan have also left the club.
Contract negotiations are on-going with other out of contract players, including Scott Davies, Eddie Clarke, Andy Cook, Connor Jennings and Jay Harris.
