Tranmere smash Solihull 9 (NINE) nil

Tranmere’s goal difference all of a sudden looks befitting of their position of title challengers after they utterly destroyed Solihull Moors 9-0.

Some people have criticised Rovers’ lack of goals throughout the course of the season, and if the title comes down to goal difference, we were looking somewhat out of it. However, tonight, all is rosy in that particular garden thanks to an incredible afternoon at Prenton Park.

Micky Mellon’s team were in control from the first whistle in this one and led 3-0 at half-time courtesy of an excellent first-half hat-trick from Cols Stockton, who could even afford to miss a penalty.

The second half saw the floodgates well and truly open. Well, they were torn off and smashed in to tiny pieces as Tranmere went goal crazy in a display of ruthlessness that has been missing.

Three minutes after the break, Connor Jennings added a fourth of what would turn in to a hat-trick for him as well, his second and Tranmere’s fifth coming in the 50th minute.

Andy Cook hit number six on 68 minutes before Liam Ridehalgh curled in a beautiful free-kick for 7-0 with six minutes remaining.

Jennings completed his treble with a stunning curling effort from 25 yards, and in the second minute of stoppage time loanee Aaron Collins netted his first Tranmere goal as he slid the ball under the keeper from close range.

And so it finish, Tranmere 9-0 Solihull Moors.

What fun.
